Mr. and Mrs. Robert Odum, Jr. of Thomson announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Anastasia "Stacey," to Charles Lee Highfill, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Coleman of Thomson.
The future bride is a 1999 graduate of Thomson High School and a 2003 Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural education and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Agricultural sorority. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Instructional Technology at Troy University-Augusta. She is employed by Richmond County Board of Education as an Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor at Cross Creek High School.
She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Frank Cheely, Jr. of Thomson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Odum, Sr. of Sydney, Australia. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Frank Cheely, Sr. of Mesena and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon C. Story, Sr. of Warrenton.
The future groom is a 1994 graduate of Thomson High School. He is employed with Georgia Vitrified Clay Corporation in Harlem as the manufacturing and plant supervisor.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. David Kitchens, Sr. of Thomson. He is the great-grandson of Mrs. Francis Cornelia Vandiver of Thomson and the late Mr. Jimmy Vandiver of Crawfordville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Van Buren Kitchens of Thomson.
The wedding date has not yet been set. The couple will live in Thomson.
