Fall revival services will begin at First Baptist Church of Thomson on Sunday, Sept. 26, and continue through Wednesday, Sept. 29. Dr. Jerry Drace, guest evangelist and music evangelists Ken and Lois Holland will lead the services, which are open to the community.
The revival will begin with the Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m. and continue that evening at 6 p.m. The weeknight services will begin one half hour later at 6:30 p.m. each evening.
According to FBC pastor, Dr. Jim Ramsey, the revival's leadership team will be powerful.
"In every service, Jerry Drace will bring a message of salvation and spiritual renewal that will have an impact on every person who hears it," Dr. Ramsey said. "And the music of Ken and Lois Holland is the most effective complement to that message that I can imagine."
Since their marriage in 1976, Ken and Lois Holland have been traveling and performing together in the United States as well as overseas.
"We're excited about the potential for revival both in our church and in our community," said Dr. Ramsey. "We understand how hard it is for busy families to set aside time for weeknight services, so we're trying to make things as easy as we can. This is a come-as-you-are revival. We're not expecting people to go home after work and get dressed up for the service. We'll have supper in the Fellowship Hall each night, as we've arranged for child care for ages birth through three years."
The three weeknight services will be preceded by a family supper in the Fellowship Hall. The supper is open to anyone planning to attend the evening service. Meal prices are $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children, with a $15 maximum for each family. Meal reservations can be made through the church office (595-4252). Reservations for Monday should be made by noon on Friday, Sept. 24. Reservations for the evening meals on Tuesday and Wednesday should be made by noon of the day before.
A special Friends' Day luncheon will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 28, in the church's Fellowship Hall. The cost of that meal will be $5 per person. The reservation deadline is noon on Friday, Sept. 24.
