A new program aimed at currently employed individuals or first line supervisors will begin at the Thomson Campus of Augusta Tech Sept. 28.
The field of study, Management and Supervisory Development, will offer an associate of applied technology degree or a diploma.
The field of study is quite popular at other campuses, said Evan Flynn, director of instructional services and continuing education.
"Every place I have been, this has been the biggest program," he said.
"We are targeting those currently employed or those seeking to better themselves to reach a management position," he said.
The Management and Supervisory Development Degree, a two year associate degree, and the Management and Supervisory Development Diploma, a one year diploma, consist of a sequence of courses designed to prepare students to work in management or supervisory positions in business and industry, Dr. Flynn said.
The Management and Supervisory Development programs prepare workers for management careers by introducing, developing and reinforcing academic and occupational knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for success. Program graduates expand their skills in the areas of employee training, employee evaluation, employee counseling and disciplinary action.
Another relatively new program at the Thomson campus is the popular the Early Childhood Care and Education Associate of Applied Technology Degree, Dr. Flynn said.
The program prepares students for careers in early care and education settings and can serve as a foundation for those wishing to pursue early childhood teacher education at a bachelor's degree granting institution.
Registration is ongoing at the campus, located at 388 Tech Drive in Thomson. Call 595-0166 for more information.
