On Sept. 1, RS Auto Sales opened across from the Dearing Town Hall. Owner Susan Hattaway moved the business from Grovetown, where she had been opened for a year and a half.
"I just felt like it was a better location, right on 78. ...I think it was a good decision," she said.
Before she owned the car lot, Ms. Hattaway worked as a manager for the Thomson Winn-Dixie. She said she quit working for the grocery store about six months before it closed, because she worked long hours.
"So now I've got people that work for me that I trust, and I'm able to have time with my family," she said.
Ms. Hattaway has a home in Grovetown and Mitchell. She has two adult sons, and a daughter who attends Harlem High School.
The business employs three people: a mechanic, an office person and a sales person. Ms. Hattaway said the used car lot sells cars from $1,000 to $5,000, offers on-site financing, and is a member of the Georgia Independent Automobile Dealers Association.
The car lot is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and other times by appointment. For more information, call 706-556-9200.
