LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Ms. Lois Martin, 90, entered into rest Friday, September 23, 2005 at Wilkes Health Care Center. She was a daughter of Doc and Fannie Mae Martin and a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.
Ms. Martin was a retired cook and housekeeper. A dedicated member of Price's Grove Baptist Church since 1926, she was Mother of the church for the past five years. For more than 55 years she served in various capacities, such as Church Secretary, Deaconess, the Mother Board, and Sunday School teacher, a job at which she excelled.
Survivors includes two daughters, Mary Martin and Martha Clarke both of Athens, Ga.; one sister, Myrtis Martin of Athens, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Carolyn Martin, Brenda Patman, Barbara Patman, Eugene Patman, Sam Patman, Wanda Michelle Patman, Tonya Kelley, and Johnny P. Martin; eighteen great-grand children; and three great-great-grandchildren; and close friends Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Estes, Jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 28, at 3 p.m. at Price's Grove Baptist Church, Firetower Road, with Rev. Jackson Parks and Rev. William H. Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were the church deacons and trustees. Deaconesses served as flower bearers.
