THS student wins contest
By Will Phillips
THS FFA Reporter
Thomson High School FFA member Antakeyda Williams recently placed first in the statewide President Jimmy Carter Birthday Card Contest. There were over 100 entries from THS, and thousands from across the state. The contest was held in honor of Jimmy Carter's 80th birthday. President Carter is a loyal supporter of the FFA and is the only President of the United States who was a member of the FFA.
Antakeyda was awarded the opportunity to ride in the Peanut Festival Parade in Plains, a savings bond and an autographed book from President Carter.
"It was really cool to meet President Carter and participate in the Peanut Festival," Antakeyda said.
Antakeyda's winning birthday card will be enlarged and displayed in the Jimmy Carter Museum. The winning birthday card may also be viewed at www.jimmycarter.info.
