Thomson Lady Bulldogs win one, lose one

It was a week of ups and downs for the Thomson High School Lady Bulldogs.

Just a day after slamming Butler 25-0, THS dropped a non-region game 6-2 to the Oglethorpe's Lady Patriots.

Thomson had nothing but troubles against Oglethorpe. Some of those problems included fielding the ball, as well as hitting.

"We simply aren't ready to play," Thomson Head Coach Jason Osborn told his team after they found themselves down 4-0 in two innings of play. "That ain't acceptable. Until you decide to play, we as coaches can't motivate you every inning. When you get ready to play, then we'll play."

The loss to the Lady Patriots of Head Coach Taylor Brooks, who formerly was at Harlem High School, marked Thomson's sixth loss in their last seven games.

After getting behind 4-0 in the Oglethorpe game, Thomson struck for two runs in the second inning on three hits.

Center fielder Heather Shivers led off with a single into right center field. Third baseman Hannah Wilson then smashed a triple into center field, allowing Shivers to race home for Thomson's first run. Wilson later managed to score when Chelsea Reeves hit a RBI single down the right field line.

Before the day was finished, Shivers collected two more singles - becoming the only Thomson player to go perfect at the plate, 3-for-3. The only other hit in the game from a Thomson player was a single by Amber Overton in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Patriots scored two more runs in the sixth to seal Thomson's fate.
