Hammond appointed Toombs judicial judge

A Thomson attorney has been appointed the Toombs Circuit Juvenile Court Judge. Thomas B. "Britt" Hammond, was appointed by Superior Court Judges E. Purnell Davis and Roger W. Dunaway Jr. to serve as Juvenile Court Judge for the next four years. Hammond will preside over all juvenile proceedings in Glascock, Lincoln, McDuffie, Taliaferro, Warren and Wilkes counties. Mr. Hammond says he is pleased with the appointment.

"My practice area has really been concentrated in juvenile work, and I have been the state special assistant attorney general since 1996, serving the Department of Family and Children Services offices in all six counties in the Toombs Circuit. So this is not new to me. I'm just excited to be getting this position, and I hope to do a good job doing it," said Mr. Hammond.

Mr. Hammond's status as juvenile court judge will be part-time, serving two days per week. He replaces attorney Hal Hinesley who held the position the past four years and will be sworn in as a Superior Court judge for the Toombs Circuit in January to replace retiring Judge E. Purnell Davis.
