The cool weather has arrived just in time for the annual Taste of Fall. The event will feature local restaurateurs and caterers who serve tastes of their specialty recipes in a casual-elegant atmosphere, complete with drinks and entertainment by local artists.
Proceeds from the event, which will be held at the historic Depot, benefit the American Heart Association.
"It's going to be decorated pretty," said Carolyn Gilbert, the director of Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce. "It's just a fun evening. Those people that came last year know that. And of course, it's for the Heart Association."
Mrs. Gilbert said some tables will also be set up outside the Depot so people may enjoy the nice weather while they are visiting with one another.
Patrons purchase a ticket to the event that enables them to enjoy tasting as much of Thomson as they want. All restaurant vendors donate their food and time for the association.
Vendors for the evening will be 1810 Country Inn and Winery, BG's Deli and Fine Catering, Catering for All Occasions, Chinaberry Foods, Courson's Winery, Aunt Sara Jane's Sweets, D's Delights, More than Mudpies, Plantation House Restaurant, Abigail's on Main, Open Flame, Miss Jane's Restaurant, Ivery's Restaurant and Catering, Mouse's House of Pizza and Poppa's Finest BBQ.
An auction will also take place, with the opportunity to purchase an elaborate mirror which is a reproduction Elliot mirror, circa 1780, handmade by William Borresen of Thomson.
The event will be held tonight at the Depot in downtown Thomson, from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices at the door are $18 per person and $30 per couple.
