Thomson native deploys for service in Iraq on Oct. 4
Sgt. Ron Rigars Sanchez Jackson was deployed to Iraq on Oct. 4, 2005. Sgt. Jackson is a Thomson native who joined the Army after graduating from Thomson High School in 1997. Upon joining the Army, Sgt. Jackson was stationed at Ft. Jackson, S.C. for basic training. After completing basic training he went to Korea for a tour of duty. Once completed, Sgt. Jackson left Korea, being sent to Ft. Benning, where he joined the 690th Medical Company.
Family members include parents: Jessie Jackson, Michelle Rogers and stepfather, Bill Rogers Jr., whom Sgt. Jackson will be joining in Iraq. Spc. Rogers is with the 48th Brigade stationed out of Ft. Stewart. Other family members include a son: Jeremiah Jackson (2 years old); grandparents: Lynette Parker, John Henry Jones and Beulah Jackson; great-grandfather, Mr. Lee Jackson, who turned 102 on Oct. 10, 2005.
Sgt. Jackson is currently in Kuwait waiting to be deployed to his duty station in Tikrit, Iraq by the end of this week.
