LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. John F. Kane, 83, of Lincolnton, entered into rest on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Warrenton Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Kane was the widower of the late Mary Dorothy Archer Kane of Lincolnton. Mr. Kane was born in Tarrytown, NY, on October 15, 1921 and was raised and educated in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was honorably discharged in 1946 from the New Jersey National Guard and served until 1962 in the United States Army, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Kane served two tours duty in the Korean Conflict. Mr. and Mrs. Kane made Augusta and Lincolnton their homes from the time of Mr. Kane's retirement in 1962 onward.
Family members include his sister, Mrs. Veronica B. Ward of Lakeland, Fla.; his brother, Mr. Thomas H. Kane, Sr. of Clinton, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lavergne Archer of Largo, Fla. and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta on Monday, October 10, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 246 Davis Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
