Mrs. Betty Jo Belanger, Secretary/Homemaker

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Betty Jo Belanger, 76, beloved wife of Mr. Thomas (Tom) Belanger, died Sunday, October 12, 2008, in University Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Leonard Dupree and Dr. James Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Belanger was a native of Atlanta, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a secretary for Dr. John Lemley and had worked at the Thomson Company. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Thomas (Tom) Belanger, Thomson; three daughters, Mrs. Cathy (Garrett) Edmunds and Donna (Chuck) Moye, both of Thomson, and Kay (Chuck) Puckett, Milledgeville; three sons, Mike (Pat) Dodson, Elberton, Scott (Elaine) Young, Thomson, and Glen Belanger, Augusta; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Dodson.

Pallbearers were Earl Edmunds, Charlie Moye, Kalen Puckett, Mark Bellew, Zac Evans, Jonathon Leverett, Greg Eddings and Travis Eddings.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Special Olympics, attention: Web Gifts, 1133 19th St. N.W., 12th Floor Washington DC 20036-3604.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
