Mrs. Maudie Lamb Black

DEARING, Ga. - Mrs. Maudie Lamb Black, 87, the beloved wife of the late Joseph Thomas Black, Sr., and the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude Mathis Lamb, entered into rest Thursday 16, 2008, at the Jefferson Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 18, 2007. at 1 p.m. at Jordon Chapel Church of God in Edgehill, Ga., with Rev. David Jones, and Deacon Charles Black officiating. Burial followed at Gibson Branch Cemetery in Edgehill, Ga.

Mrs. Black was born on April 26, 1921, at Glascock County, and lived in Edgehill, Ga., most of her life. She had lived in Dearing for the past five years. Mrs. Black was a homemaker.

Survivors include her children, Joseph T. Black, Jr., George A. Black, Hilda Pelham, Helen Sapp, Melvis Gay and Lauren Black; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and her two very best friends, Brooke Gay and Neva Calhoun.

Pallbearers were Josh Morgan, Ronnie Pelham, Randy Pelham, Gordon Ross, Scott Lamb, Harold Lamb and Ralph Kelley.

James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
