Trash amnesty day is set for Saturday in McDuffie County

It's that time of the year again where you can spruce up your yards by taking household trash and other items to the McDuffie County Landfill.

Trash amnesty day is this Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the county landfill, located off the Mesena Road.

Residents of McDuffie County are allowed to take furniture, old refrigerators, stoves and other scrap metals to the landfill.

However, there are certain restrictions. Residents cannot take tires, asbestos materials, old junk cars or old mobile homes to the landfill. Such items will not be accepted.

Also, residents are warned to cover certain items that could blow out onto the ground. Those without covers on vehicles with loose debris could face a fine of $100.
