Former Thomson standout and current South Carolina Gamecock Casper Brinkley was named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Lineman of the Week, according to the conference's website, www.secsports.com.
The 6-3, 250-pound junior received the honor for his performance in the Gamecocks' 31-13 win over Vanderbilt last Saturday, according to the USC athletics website. Brinkley had five solo tackles and an assist, four of which totaled a loss of 23 yards. Two of those tackles were sacks, and he also forced a fumble in the game.
