On Saturday morning,†respected and†beloved†aging advocate Nancy Drane died.
Nancy - the pioneering former director of the McDuffie County Senior Center in Thomson - spent the most recent years of her career coaching and inspiring leaders of senior centers throughout the CSRA and mobilizing the community on behalf of aging causes. Always fearless, quick, folksy, and slightly unpredictable ("crazy" as she called it), Nancy fought relentlessly for older Georgians and graced all of our lives with joy.
In her signature style, Nancy chose to donate her body to the Medical College of Georgia as her final gift to the community. Please keep Nancy's family in your thoughts during their time of loss and transition.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at the McDuffie County Senior Center at 304 Greenway Street in Thomson. We hope you will be able to attend.
We will all miss Nancy and her commitment to improving the lives of older Georgians.
