Recy Charlene Blanchard and Keith Lawrence Reese exchanged vows at 4 p.m. on May 22, 2004, at Old Union Baptist Church in Harlem.
Special music was provided by Bob Corbin, organ; Lee Roberts, solo; and Hallie Neal, solo.
A candle was placed in the front of the church at the organ in honor of the bride's brother, LCPL William Harvey Blanchard, II, who is serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, in Afghanistan. There was also a candle placed at the piano in memory of deceased grandparents.
The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Blanchard, was lovely in a flowing white Victorian princess-cut dress with hand-sewn pearls and lace with an eight-foot beaded train. Her waist-length veil was a tierra with diamonds and pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of roses, lilies, gardenia, lilac and pink, cascaded with pearls and ivy.
Maid of honor was Diane Edwards, friend of the bride, North Augusta, S.C. Matron of honor was Joni Ingle, friend of the bride, of Thomson.
Bridesmaids were Kathy M. Reese, sister of the groom, of Thomson; Julie W. Reese, sister-in-law of the groom, of Lawrenceville; Deanna Dorn, aunt of the bride, of Saluda, S.C.; and Melissa Lifsey, of Martinez. All the attendants wore a Victorian lilac flowing dress with a low cut back and small train. They carried a small ball made of pink roses on the end of a pink ribbon.
Flower girls were Samanthe E. Hooper, niece of the groom, of Thomson; and Kimbrelee Dorn, cousin of the bride, of Saluda, S.C. Jr. bride was Karley Green, friend of the bride, of Harlem.
The groom wore a black tuxedo with a white vest and bow tie.
Best man was Kenan Reese, brother of the groom, of Lawrenceville.
Groomsmen were Terry Reese, friend of the groom, of Thomson; Alan Gheesling, friend of the groom, of Thomson; Marc Rogers, friend of the groom, of Lawrenceville; Thomas Dorn Jr., cousin of the bride, of Saluda, S.C.; and Kenneth Dorn, uncle of the bride, of Saluda, S.C. Usher was Benjamin Dorn, cousin of the bride, of Saluda, S.C. All the attendants wore a black tuxedo with lilac bow tie and vest.
Ring bearers were Evan Gheesling, friend of the groom, of Thomson; and Dylan Powell, friend of the bride, of Harlem. Jr. groom was Keith Dorn Jr., cousin of the bride, of Saluda, S.C. Doormen were Cody Dorn and Travis Dorn, cousins of the bride, of Saluda, S.C.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Blanchard of Grovetown. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Espy Dorn of Saluda, S.C., Mrs. Lois Blanchard of Thomson and the late John E. Blanchard.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Katheren J. Reese of Thomson and Mr. Charlie L. Reese of Grovetown. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William V. Reese of Thomson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Johnson of Warren County/Panhandle.
A reception was held at the Old Union Baptist Church following the ceremony, hosted by the bride's parents. Servers for the reception were Janice Deloch, Kelley Powell, Betty Hood, Debra Dorn, Melody Dorn, Deanna Snelling and Kelsey Green.
Following the reception, the couple left for a honeymoon in the Tennessee mountains.
The couple is now residing in Grovetown.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's mother, Katheren J. Reese and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Johnson Vanclive, Miss., aunt and uncle of the groom, was held at Old Union Baptist Church.
