Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Harbeson of Thomson are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rosemary Claire, to Mr. Joel Stewart McElhannon of Atlanta.
The couple is planning a small ceremony at The Jekyll Island Club in February. They will also celebrate with family and friends at a reception in Thomson.
The bride elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Henry Hunt of Thomson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Alfred Harbeson of Thomson.
Miss Harbeson received a bachelor of arts in speech communications from the University of Georgia where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is currently employed by Merck & Co., Inc. as a sales representative in Augusta. Rosemary is an active member of Mesena United Methodist Church, The Belle Meade Hunt and The Junior League of Augusta.
Mr. McElhannon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McElhannon III of Conyers, Ga. He is the grandson of Mrs. Faye McElhannon and the late Mr. Stewart McElhannon, Jr. of Winder, Ga., and Mrs. Zelma Smith, currently of Eatonton, Ga., and the late Mr. James Denton Smith.
Mr. McElhannon is the president of South Public Affairs Consulting, LLC, in Atlanta. He earned a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Georgia in 1994.
