THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Elsie Standard Hobbs, 83, beloved wife of Mr. William "Billy" Hobbs, died Friday, October 24, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 25, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Donna Phelps and Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Johnson United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hobbs was a native of Wilkes County. She was a retired educator and a member of Thomson First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Mr. Brian Hobbs, and her sisters, Marian Summerford, Elizabeth Cook, and Lynda Riley.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. William (Bill) Hobbs, Thomson; two sons, Brad (Cary) Hobbs, and Mark Hobbs, both of Lilburn; three grandchildren, Will Hobbs, Boyd Hobbs, and Tyler Hobbs; a niece, Connie (Edwin) Blanchard; a nephew, Bill (Sheryl) Riley; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Stevens.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
