Thomson High students recognized for service

Four students received certificates of recognition for their volunteer spirit and community service Friday at Thomson High School. Senior Brenten Widener and Junior Kalyn Kitchings received the Prudential Spirit of Community Certificate of Merit Award, while Sophomore Amanda Acosta and Senior Richard Brown received the Prudential Spirit of Community Certificate of Achievement State Recognition Award.

Amanda and Richard will be entered in the state level competition for this award. One nominee from Georgia will be recognized in Washington, D.C., next February and will receive a medallion and $1,000. These four students exhibit the kind of community spirit that all students should work to attain.

Their commitment of time and talent show their willingness to participate in society in a helpful, productive manner.
