MARTINEZ, Ga. - SGM (Ret) James T. "Jim" Greaves, Jr., 66, of Martinez entered into rest Friday, October 27, 2006 at Doctors Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Sharon K. Greaves.
Funeral services with full military honors were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2006 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 4255 Columbia Road Martinez, GA with Father Thomas Peyton officiating. Interment was in the Arlington National Cemetery.
SGM Greaves was a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He retired from the US Army in 1989 after 31 years of service. SGM Greaves received numerous medals and commendations including: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm/Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Drill Sergeant ID Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Expert Rife and .45 Cal Pistol, NCOProfessional Development Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon K. Greaves, Martinez; two sons: George Robert (Sherry Lynn) Greaves and James Thomas Greaves, III both of Augusta; a sister: Shirley Strukel of Mentor, Ohio; grandchildren: George Tanner Greaves, Olivia Anne Greaves, and stepgrandson Marc Anthony Kniphfer all of Augusta., mother-in-law, Mrs. Inez Davis of Warrenton; one sister-in-law, Debbie (Bubba) Norris, of Thomson; two nieces, Kacey and Taylor Norris, both of Thomson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James T., Sr. and Anne Mindek Greaves and a stepson Stephen Nelson Norris.
