Troopers honored for service
Georgia State Troopers gathered at the Thomson post Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the heroism of a few of their own with an awards luncheon. Cpl. Herbert Craven was recognized for helping in the rescue of a man deserted on an island in Clarks Hill. Cpl. Ritchie Howard, TFC Steve Shelton, TFC Jamie Collier and Lt. David Cody were recognized for their assistance in a soldier's suicide attempt on the I-20 overpass at Washington Road. "We're real proud of them," said Post Commander Sgt. Mark Bentley.
