The Thomson-McDuffie Christmas Parade for 2004 will truly be a child's delight. The theme for this year's parade is "A Storybook Christmas!" Snow White, Cinderella, Pinnochio, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and all the favorites of children will be on floats parading through the streets of Thomson.
The parade will be Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. It will originate at the IGA Parking Lot and will disband at the Bi-Lo Shopping Center. The fee for participation is $10 with the proceeds being used to help the needy in the area. Registrations must be in by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29. Registration forms with rules, regulations and disclaimer can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce. No registration = no participation.
Prizes will be awarded in the following four categories: Industries, Small Businesses, Churches or Charitable Organizations, Schools or Educational Groups. Judging will begin at 2 p.m. -- so, if you want your entry to be part of the judging you must be in place and decorated by 2 p.m.
With more than 160 vehicles to line up for this event, the earlier participants arrive the easier it will be to place their vehicles in the lot. Thus, placing entrants will start as early as 11 a.m. in the IGA parking lot. If at all possible, please decorate floats before entering the lot or have the necessary decorations on hand. Space is limited and extra cars carrying decorations just add to the confusion and make line up more difficult.
All bands, twirlers, and marching units will line up at the Regions Bank parking lot and vacant lot behind the bank.
