Members of the Thomson Fire Department played host to the 10th District Weekend Fire School Saturday.
Nearly 150 firefighters from Thomson, McDuffie County and the cities of North Augusta, Augusta, Swainsboro, Louisville and Washington participated in the event.
Firefighting tactics were taught at burning exercises on Martin Luther King, Jr. Street and pressurized water system, and supplies instruction was given at the city's water filter treatment plant. Classes in pressurized flammable liquids container control were taught at Thomson High School.
Among the sponsoring agencies were the Thomson Fire Department, the Georgia Fire Academy and the Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Agency.
