Shelia Floyd, ER Registrar, is the McDuffie Regional Medical Center's October Golden Heart Winner.
The hospital recently implemented the award program to recognize associates that go above and beyond the call of duty. This person should display loyalty, teamwork, and super customer service to MRMC. Each month, Golden Heart winner will receive a plaque and gift certificate.

Ms. Floyd began working in registration as PRN Registrar more than eight years ago. She learned the registration process quickly. Ms. Floyd works very well with the ER nursing staff, ER physician staff, and has had no negative feedback from anyone working with her. When a full-time ER night position became available, she filled that position with confidence. Later, she was able to move to a daytime opening and has done a great job. She communicates well, and has a very professional attitude.
Ms. Floyd has always been compassionate and caring towards the patients that come through the hospital's ER doors.
"Any project I have given to Shelia, she has accepted and exceeded my expectations" said Dianne Murphy, Registration Coordinator.
Ms. Floyd sat for and passed the Certified Healthcare Access Associate exam given by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management. She was one in the 33 percent nationally that passed the exam when it was given in the third year. This is the only national exam offered for registrars. By passing this exam, she has proven her working knowledge of what is required of a professional registrar.
Ms. Floyd was asked by Emergency Coverage Corp to be the part-time Site Coordinator. She was to come in 20 hours per week for ECC (Physician Billing) to get their billing information ready and sent to them on a timely basis. Her supervisors said she does a wonderful job.
"We do not know what we would do without Shelia," said Dr. Louise Yates and Jane Lloyd, ER Coordinator.
