Thomson resident Joseph D. Greene, Cree Walker Professor of Business Administration at Augusta State University, will present his book, From Cotton Fields to Board Rooms, at ASU's Meet the Author program on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 2:30 p.m. on the second floor of ASU's Reese Library.
The book is about Mr. Greene's life growing up on a farm in rural Georgia and the social and religious outlets of his experiences.
The author recounts his transition from picking cotton in Emanuel County, Ga., to becoming an executive officer for a major insurance company and holding public office.
Mr. Greene hopes that his book "will inspire you to look at your own life and ask if you've done everything you can to pursue your own dreams, be the best you can be, and give back to your community. There's no 'T' in 'Can't. Only Can.'"
Mr. Greene earned a bachelor's degree from Augusta State and a master's degree from the University of Georgia.
In addition to teaching at ASU, Mr. Greene serves as a director of the Georgia Council on Economic Education, conducts financial-planning workshops, and publishes articles on finance and economics.
