Liz Smith wanted to be in business for herself. She wanted to do something that wouldn't take her away from her children, something she had thought about doing for a long time.
When she found out Romano's was for sale, she knew that was it. Mrs. Smith purchased and reopened the Hill Street restaurant last Friday under the name Little G's Breakfast, Pizza and Subs.
"I've always been intrigued by the restaurant business," said the former owner of Speedy Foods on Cobbham Road. "So I thought 'Well, I'll give it a try.'"
The restaurant will now open at 5 a.m. on weekdays and specialize in breakfast foods.
Mrs. Smith said lunch - pizza, subs, etc. - will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. Little G's will close at 2 p.m. The restaurant's phone number changed also: the new number is 595-1875.
"We're going to start opening at night, but not right now," she said. "I've got to weed the bugs out of what's going on as far as everything is concerned."
Mrs. Smith said regular patrons can expect the taste of the food to be a little different from what they have been used to despite the fact that most of the employees have stayed in place.
"We're changing the menu up; we've really cleaned the business up a lot," she said.
