Members of the Alzheimer's Association Augusta Regional Office are pleased with the outcome of their recent fundraiser in Thomson. The Association held a Memory Walk on Saturday, Oct. 22 at First Baptist Church of Thomson and a steak dinner and auction on Thursday, Oct. 27 at The Depot.
"We deeply appreciate the support of the Thomson Community," said Camille Ruddick, a Thomson volunteer for the Alzheimer's Association. "It was a wonderful experience."
The two events brought in $7,000. The Alzheimer's Association Augusta Regional Office serves the Central Savannah River Area including McDuffie County, and offers programs and services such as a 24-hour information and referral helpline, community support groups, counseling, education, and assistance.
"Alzheimer's is a heinous disease that affects not just the patient, but deeply affects the family," said Mrs. Ruddick, whose mother was diagnosed with the disease in 1993.
