This year's Thomson High School Cross Country Team did an excellent job this year in case you did not hear it on the announcements.
Scott McClure and Brenton Widener helped the team out by winning first and second place at meets, putting their team in first place. The girls team also came in first place at the meets.
After all the meets were over, it was time for regionals. On Tuesday, Oct.19, the Cross Country Team left from Thomson High School at 8 a.m. for the meet in Savannah.
Once the team arrived, it was obvious the team had confidence that Thomson would win. They were then put at the starting line. More than 80 people filled in the slots for their teams. The starter honked the horn and they were off on what they had been training and waiting for all season. The race was over with Thomson way behind. Although not able to go to regionals, Thomson did not get on the bus with their heads down. They just told themselves they would be back next year for an even greater year.
The Thomson High School Cross Country Team consists of Joseph Carter, Allen Berkey, Jasiline Boyd, Javanha Boyd, Tangie Burnett, Chris Cook, Evan Luke, James McCain, Scott McClure, Hannah Poston, Brenton Widener, Kim Gamble, and Damion McGruder.
