Smoking ban push is a "great cause" to support

Dear Editor,

Frank Powell, M.D., Chief of the Medical Staff at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, is leading a great cause for McDuffie County in asking for a smoking ban in public gathering places.

Over the last 10 years, much research has been completed on second hand smoke, and the public has been inundated with facts concerning the effects of smoking and second hand smoke as severe health hazards.

As a Certified Health Executive, I know the cost of health care in this one preventable area is astronomical due to the very chronic nature of smoking side effects.

Please support Dr. Powell's initiatives in this area for the health of our citizens is at stake.

Douglas C. Keir, CEO

McDuffie Regional Medical Center
