Hammond weds Garcia in ceremony at Raysville

Katherine Lynn Hammond and Daniel S. Garcia were united in marriage at 7:30 p.m., on September 13, 2008, at Raysville Boat Club in Thomson. Rev. C. E. "Butch" Baston officiated the ceremony.

Katie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Lee Hammond, Sr., of Thomson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marcy Pilgrim and the late Clarence Pilgrim of Thomson and Mrs. Peggy Hammond and the late Bobby Hammond of Thomson. Katie is a 2004 Thomson High School graduate, a 2006 Georgia Military College graduate and a 2008 Augusta Tech graduate.

Daniel is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lokey of Harlem. He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Willie Mae Miles of Thomson and the late Mr. Howard "Bo" Welch of Thomson. Daniel is a 2005 Thomson High School graduate.

Given in marriage by her father, Katie chose her cousins Maggie Bedgood, as her maid of honor and Cortney Raycroft, as her matron of honor, both from Augusta. Bridesmaids were Brittany Smith and Bridgett Powers, both of Thomson and Lindsay Pilgrim of Winder, all cousins of the bride. Jessica Morlan of Thomson, friend of the bride, was the flower girl.

Daniel chose his friend, Steven Palmer, of Thomson, as his best man. Groomsmen were Reid Rhodes of Mitchell, Chris Bowick of Thomson, Brandon Hillman of Gibson, all friends of the groom and Dallas Newsome of Thomson, nephew of the groom. Parker Raycroft of Augusta, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer. Ushers were Will Hammond, brother of the bride, Clay Hammond, Wes Hammond and Michael Greer, all cousins of the bride.

Program attendants were Leila Powers, Bailey Powers and Logan Prater, cousins of the bride and Courtney Swann, friend of the bride

The couple chose an evening beach wedding. Four floating candle arrangements were placed in the water in memory of the deceased grandparents. Ceremonial music was provided by friends of the family from the 246th Army Brigade and the THS Bulldog Brigade under the direction of Jessie Morlan. Soloist was Leah Powers.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the clubhouse which was decorated with beautiful flowers, greenery and candles.

After the wedding the couple enjoyed a trip to Tybee Island. They have made their home in Thomson.
