Community leaders and regional legislators - Jim Whitehead, Barry Fleming and Alberta Anderson among others - will join with representatives from Region 7 of The Family Connection Partnership Friday, Nov. 19 at the Thomson Depot.
Family Connection Partnership is an affiliation between the state of Georgia and the private sector that strives to improve results for Georgia's children and their families as well as their communities.
The luncheon provides a chance for Family Connection officials to exchange ideas and information while recapping the group's main goals for community leaders and legislators, said Mary Ann Kotras who coordinates the local program and also serves as executive director of McDuffie County Partners for Success.
"Our elected officials know who we are, but it's a good thing to remind them of the things we're doing in our communities," she said.
The legislative luncheon, which will include Family Connection representatives from 14 counties, will feature Gaye Smith as keynote speaker.
"We will be having a brief presentation from our executive director at the state level," Dr. Kotras said.
Family Connection counties from Region 7 scheduled to send representatives are Richmond, Burke, Columbia, McDuffie, Warren, Wilkes, Hancock, Glascock, Jenkins, Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington, Screven and Taliaferro.
