Mr. John K. "Steve" Stevenson, Sr.
BEECH ISLAND, S.C.- Funeral services for Mr. John K. "Steve" Stevenson, Sr., 83, of Beech Island, S.C., who died November 7, 2004, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 a.m. from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Dr. Paul B. Fowler officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery in Thomson with Military Honors. Masonic Rites were conducted at the graveside by the Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 AFM.
Mr. Stevenson was a native of Durham, North Carolina having made Beech Island his home for the past 50 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, a US Navy Veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Stevenson attended Duke University and was retired from E. I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 AFM where he was Past Master and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Hall Stevenson; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Terry Stevenson, Jr., Evans; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Thomas Bates, North Augusta and Sara and Dean Lanier, Augusta; five grandchildren, Nick Gavalas, Margaret Baumer, Sara Leslie Youngblood, Adam Youngblood and Anne-Marie Stevenson; four great-grandchildren.
Honorary and Active Pallbearers were members of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 AFM.
