The Briarwood Academy junior varsity cheerleaders have placed first in both the Bulldog Challenge and the Spirit of Sandersville contests.
The Buccaneer junior varsity competition squad placed first overall in team competition last week in Sandersville in the Spirit of Sandersville while a number of the cheerleaders placed first in individual competitions.
Hannah Wilson placed first in the JV tumble off; Wilson, Shannon Newsome, Anna Goolsby, Caitlin Burnside and Lindsey Burnley placed first in the stunt off competition; Wilson, Newsome, Burnley and Grace Blackmon-Hughes placed first in the lib off competition.
The JV squad also captured first place in the Bulldog Challenge middle school competition the previous week at Norris Elementary School in Thomson.
Additionally, Prater Thigpen placed first in seventh grade and up in the jump off competition while Newsome placed first in the sixth grade and under competition in liberty, stunt and jump competition.
The Briarwood Mighty Bucs cheerleaders, third, fourth and fifth graders, placed first in overall competition in the youth category in the Bulldog Challenge.
