Mr. George William Andrews

BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Mr. George William Andrews, 101, of Todd's Landing, entered into rest Friday, November 21, 2008, at his residence.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2008, at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Farley and Dr. E. Finley Limehouse officiating. Interment was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Andrews was a lifelong resident of Beech Island. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy for nine years, including service during World War II on the Island of Tonga in the Pacific. Mr. Andrews was a founding member of Andrews Masonic Lodge #391 where he was an active member for 60 years and was still serving as the Lodge Chaplain at the time of his death.

Survivors include two sons, W. David Andrews and his wife, Barbara, of Augusta, Phillip Edward Andrews and his wife, Lisa, of Ft. Myers, Fla., six grandchildren, W. David Andrews, Ill., of Bucksport, Me., Yvonne Andrews, of Orland, Me., Kathy Weigand Andrews Hinesley and her husband, Hal, of Thomson, Ethan William Andrews and his wife, Jennifer, of Augusta, Sarah Andrews Cowdin and her husband, Dan, of Mustang, Okla., Daniel Edward Andrews, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Christina Watson-Hinesley, Rhett Hinesley, Wright Andrews, Julia Lucille Andrews, Eli Andrews, Cole Cowdin and Hannah Cowdin; his sister, Ada Evelen Andrews, 99, of Beech Island.

Mr. Andrews was preceeded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lucille Weigand Andrews and his brother, James Ethan Andrews.

Pallbearers were members of the Andrews Masonic Lodge.

Memorials may be made to the Bill and Lucille Andrews Community Fund, Andrews Masonic Lodge, 300 Beech Island Avenue, Beech Island, SC 29824 or to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 497, Jackson, SC 29831.

Rowland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
