THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Shields, 84, widow of Mr. William "Bill" Shields, died Sunday, November 18, 2007, in the Trinity Hospital in Augusta.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Wayne Bruner officiating.
Mrs. Shields was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County. She was a retired certified Dental Technician with Fort Gordon and had retired as a Historical Interpreter for the DNR at Elijay State Park. She was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy (Steve) Kay, Thomson; two sons, Andy (Ruth Ann) Shields and Billy Shields, both of Thomson; three grandchildren, David Shields, Katelyn Shields, and Matthew Shields; additional family members, George and Virginia Folds; and several close family friends, Barbara Hobbs, Roslyn Johnson, Holly Sexton, Betty Evans, Connie Reid, and Renee Frank. Friends may call at the residence or at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
