Warrenton pastor asks for community support of work

Dear Friends and Neighbors of Warren County:

Warrenton First United Methodist Church is celebrating its 100th anniversary in a beautiful 100-year old building that has withstood a century of exposure to the elements. Try to imagine the number of babies and adults that have been baptized here these last 100 years, the number of marriages that began at its altar, and how many lives were changed because of the gospel preached in a building that precedes the transcontinental telephone and the passenger airplane. Perhaps you or someone in your family have experienced God's grace through this sanctuary.

Now imagine yourself at age 100. Your spirit is strong, your desire to serve the Lord just as vital, but the body in which you abide needs help in order to keep going. We find ourselves in this situation as we continue the traditions of worship in our historic sanctuary. Our 100-year old building is experiencing the problems of aging.

Many areas demanding attention have been identified. The most important being:

īThe restoration and long-term protection of the church's 89 beautiful stained glass windows.

īReplacing damaged bricks and mortar that have been eroded by the elements over these last 100 years.

īThe repair of the church's roof, interior walls and steeple.

There is an immediate need for $75,000 to $100,000 and we need to act quickly. We are taking every opportunity to ensure this project is completed successfully and quickly so that we can save this historic 100-year old landmark.

We are seeking the help of our community, our friends and neighbors. You can help us by contributing to the success of this vital restoration. Your contribution can be a one time gift or, if you prefer, you may wish to give each month.

Your generosity will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. If you desire, your gifts can be "in memory of" or "in honor of" a loved one that has experienced the many blessings received in this church over the last 100 years. Please show your love and support by contributing generously to Operation Restoration, Warrenton First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 432, Warrenton, GA 30828.

Please help with this worthy project by contributing generously to Operation Restoration.

The Congregation of Warrenton First United Methodist Church
