Christmas at Cedar Rock - Something for Everyone

Everyone is invited to visit Macedonia United Methodist Church on Thursday-Saturday, December 11-13, 2008, between the hours of 6:30-9:00 p.m. for the Eighth Annual Christmas at Cedar Rock. The event, a community outreach mission project, for the church, has something for every member of the family to enjoy.

After stopping by the welcome booth in the Family Life Center, visitors can browse the General Store, which contains a variety of gift items, Christmas decorations and homemade baked goods, jellies and jams.

The Macedonia Cafe offers complete dinners and ala carte items. The dinner plate includes a hotdog, chili, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, dessert and drink reasonably priced at $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children. Coffee, hot chocolate and dessert are also available.

Children 12 years and under can visit the Kid's Only Shoppe to purchase that special gift for family members and have it wrapped for only $1.00 each.

Santa will also be on hand for that "special talk". Pictures are available for a $3.00 charge.

Outside, visitors can participate in a variety of activities which include riding a hayride, petting animals in the Petting Zoo, roasting marshmallows over an open fire, enjoying hot boiled peanuts and listening to your favorite Christmas music.

The hayride begins with thousands of lights and booths depicting holiday scenes. Be sure to keep your eyes wide open as you might see an elf or two or maybe even The Cat in the Hat.

After enjoying the Christmas sights and lights, the hayride continues on to Bethlehem Village where the Roman guard stands waiting. Visitors learn of the story of Christmas as they travel past the basket maker, the bread maker, the potter, the carpenter, and the clothier before arriving at the Nativity Scene. You will see the live animals surrounding the stable.

Christmas at Cedar Rock is truly an event for the entire family. It is a gift from Macedonia United Methodist Church to the community and surrounding areas. Please plan to come and enjoy the true spirit of Christmas.

For more information, please contact the Church office at 465-9607 or Sheilah Johnson at 595-6146. Macedonia United Methodist Church is located on Highway 80 N just off the Camak exit on I-20 (No. 165). Coming from Thomson or Augusta, bear right off the exit ramp and the church is ¼ mile on the left.

The hayride and facilities are handicapped accessible.
