Mr. Gerald "Max" Christner
Assistant Plant Manager

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Gerald 'Max' Christner of Thomson, entered into rest November 29, 2007, at University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Christner.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Bud Overholser, Richard Overholser, Robert Hudson, Wayne Bennett, George Atnip and Vernon Baldwin.

Mr. Christner was born in Columbus, Miss., and was the son of the late Raymond Russell Christner and the late Clara Catherine Rody Christner. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, qualifying as Expert Rifleman, and was part of the Marine Corps Vietnam Expeditionary forces. Mr. Christner completed his enlistment aboard the U.S.S. Mt. McKinley in the communications unit during the Vietnam era. Mr. Christner retired from Carole Fabrics as assistant plant manager. He had served as plant manager for several other home fashions manufacturers in Westfield, In.; Mahanoy City, Penn.; Augusta; and Chester, S.C..

Survivors include his wife Barbara Christner, Thomson; sister: Soni Williams, Athens, Ohio; three nieces and one nephew.

Mr. Christner was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Moore.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
