Lana Martin, a Certified Nursing Assistant on the McDuffie Regional Medical Center's medical/surgical floor, has been named the hospital's Golden Heart of the Year.
"She treats everyone the same: 'special,'" said Peggy Barmore, Chief Nurse Executive. "She makes sure that all of their needs are met and is frequently complemented in our patient surveys."
Ms. Martin was chosen from the field of 12 monthly Golden Heart recipients. The monthly recipients were: October - Shelia Floyd, Registration; November - Amanda Jenkins, Social Services; December - Jean Thigpen, Human Resources; January - Lana Martin, Nursing Service; February - Jody Thomas, Nursing Service; March - Jackie McNair-Hunter, Nursing Service; April - Joan Combs, Radiology; May - Marguerite Graham, Pharmacy; June - Katrice Battle, Dietary; July - Pecola Lane, Health Link; August - April Keene, Medical Staff Services and September - Carla Dorsey, Pharmacy.
The overall winner was voted on by hospital employees.
This is the first year of the Golden Heart program. Each month MRMC recognizes an associate that goes above and beyond the call of duty. Any associate can nominate someone within the hospital by writing a short paragraph describing the special care that person displayed.
The Golden Heart of the Month winners receive a certificate, gift card and recognition in the local newspapers.
