Briarwood Academy's 2005 varsity football and softball players were honored at the Fall Sports Banquet held last week at the school.

Seniors Beth Gerlach and Katie Reese shared Most Valuable Player honors for the Lady Bucs softball team. Also, both were selected as GISA AA softball All Stars and played in the All Star game earlier this year.
Gerlach also received GISA AA All State honors.
Four Lady Bucs - Reese, Gerlach, Cassie Pickrell and Caitlin Rodgers - were named to the 1AA All Region team.
Senior Tyler Wester took top honors for the varsity Buccaneers football squad, taking not only Most Valuable Player honors for the Bucs, but also GISA All State honors. Wester, the Bucs' leading ground gainer, was also named the Bucs' Most Valuable Offensive Back and was named a GISA All Star.
Wester shared All Star honors with senior lineman Jason Dunham. The two played in the GISA All Star game vs. the South Carolina All Stars last Saturday

Dunham was also named the Bucs' Best Offensive Lineman along with fellow senior Will Quinn.
All three, Quinn, Dunham, and Wester, were named 1AA All Region players along with juniors Joseph Batrous, David Russell and Tyler Wester.
Batrous received the Coaches Award for the Bucs; Russell received the Sportsmanship Award; and Wilson received the award for the Best Defensive Lineman.
Sophomore John Spivey was named the Best Defensive Back.
