Varnadoe weds Harmon in ceremony at First Baptist

Elizabeth Fulmer Varnadoe and Jacob Butler Harmon were married on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Thomson. The Rev. Dr. Leonard L. Dupree performed the ceremony.


The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerald Varnadoe of Thomson. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. William Henry Fulmer, Sr. of Savannah, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kim Varnadoe of Cordele, Ga.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga., and is employed as a Civil Site Engineer with Southern A&E in Austell, Ga.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gene Harmon of Jasper, Ga. He is the grandson of Mrs. Richard Butler and the late Mr. Richard Butler of Calhoun, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harmon of Calhoun, Ga.

The groom is a 2002 graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga., and is employed as a Contract Administrator with Southern A&E in Austell, Ga.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a beautiful strapless wedding gown of ivory satin, adorned with slight crystal beading on the bodice. The floor-length gown had a full skirt and cathedral length train trimmed in crystal beading. The bride also wore her family's heirloom cathedral length veil made of antique Belgium lace, purchased by her maternal grandparents in Belgium so that all their daughters and granddaughters could wear the veil on their wedding day.

The bride chose her sister, Ms. Kimberly Catherine Varnadoe of Columbia, S.C., as her Matron of Honor. The Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jamie Lynn Check of Villa Rica, friend of the bride, Miss Elizabeth Lee Hutson of Savannah, cousin of the bride, and Miss Emily Charme Harmon of Athens, sister of the groom. The flower girls were Miss Margaret Shehane of Savannah, cousin of the bride and Miss Caliegh Check of Villa Rica, friend of bride and groom.

The groom chose his father, Mr. Larry Gene Harmon of Jasper, as hias best man. The Groomsmen were Dr. Buford Arnold of Bremen, friend of the groom, Mr. Cory Carl Check of Villa Rica, friend of the groom, and Mr. Madison Monroe Williams of Atlanta, friend of the bride and groom. The ring bearer was Master Collin Michael Porter of Savannah, cousin of the bride.

During their engagement, the bride and groom were honored with many luncheons, showers, and cocktail parties hosted by friends and family in Atlanta, Calhoun and Thomson.

The parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at the 1810 Country Inn and Winery in Thomson on the eve of the wedding, November 11, 2005. On the morning of the wedding, Dr. and Mrs. Ed Grisham, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Booker, Mr. and Mrs. Flynn Bowie, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hutson and Ms. Kimberly Varnadoe hosted a breakfast for the bride and groom and their out of town guests.

Following the wedding ceremony, the reception was held at Belle Meade Country Club.

The bride and groom honeymooned on the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies. Upon their return, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Butler Harmon will reside in Villa Rica, Ga.
