On Jan. 10, there will be 29 THS band students traveling to Greenbrier High to compete against other schools in the area for a spot in the District Band and/or All-State Band.
"We have a lot of really talented students. We believe they will be very successful trying-out for District and All-State," Assistant Band Director Emme Hines said.
In order to make District Band, the students have to play 12 major scales by memory and sight-read a piece of music. In order to be named to the All-State Band students must play a piece of music the host sends the student, in addition to the district band qualifications.
Then Feb. 19-21, the District Band meets together and practices for a public concert at Augusta State University
The All-State Band meets at the Savannah Civic Center April 29-May 2 to play its concert.
