The Thomson High School Junior Varsity girl's basketball team is off to a great start, according to Coach Bennie Hester.
"If all girls give 100 percent, they can play with anybody," Coach Hester said. "The players are shooting better and also their attitudes are better."
Like many teams, there are weaknesses as well as strengths. The biggest weakness on the team, in Coach Hester's opinion, is dribbling and rebounding. The strength of the team is their ability to shoot.
"The biggest difference between this year's and last year's team is they have better work habits, their shooting and their hustle," he said.
Coach Hester said he's been extremely happy with the play of Dominique Reese, Brittany Lazenby, Tykia Key and Wyshina Haynes. "These are the players that really stand out from the rest of the team. They give 110 percent all the time."
The team has many big games ahead of them, including tough tests against Warren, Jefferson, and Greenbrier.
The JV team consists of:
Freshmen: Annie Crawford, Tanjaneka "Tangie" Burnett, Shaquisha "Net" Hordens, Keywanna "Ki Ki" Kendrick, Sara Sanchez-Patina, and Dominique Reese.
Sophomores: Tykia Key, Brittany Lazenby, Tiffany Reynolds, Patience "Pay- Pay" Robinson, and Wyshina "Wy Wy" Haynes.
