What a beautiful weekend in our city. I mean, what more could you ask for in regards to getting in the holiday spirit?
While the weather earlier in the week threatened the best laid plans, the skies cleared, and we were off.
On Friday night, we flipped the switch on the city's Christmas tree and enjoyed seasonal music by youngsters from our area.
On Saturday, some of usİran, walked, puffed and pantedİthrough the streets in the Depot Dash.İ And later in the day, we walked Railroad Street and the Depot and marveled at a fantastic presentation of arts and crafts as well as a wide variety of entertainment. There was more food available at both events then should be allowed by law.
Some of us meandered over to the box factory and enjoyed an incredible variety of antiques. There was a lot of local and general history in that old building.
Then, we capped it all off on Sunday with the Christmas parade. To see the kids participating in and laughing and gazing at the various floats and other entries truly capped the joy of the event. And the candy tossed from vehicles didn't hurt too much either.
And if you attend church, it madeİfor the perfect opening rush for theİbusy holiday season.
From the unsungİvolunteers to the organizers, I want to thank all ofİyou from the bottom of my heart for presenting Thomson and McDuffie County so stirringly.İ
While I know that theİChristmas Spirit is to be within, it magnifies it when there are events to heighten the joy of the season. Again, thanks to all for a marvelous weekend.
