Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia is a fully accredited, freestanding institution, which grants a master's degree in science with a focus on nurse anesthesia. Following completion of the program, its graduates take the certification qualifying exam of the Council on Certification of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Successful completion of this exam earns them the designation CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist), and grants them the right to be practicing anesthetists. The School accepts 50-70 students annually for its 28-month program, which is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as the Council on Accreditation of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
