DEARING, Ga. - Mr. Therion Ellis Newby, 86, husband of Frances Newby of Dearing, entered into rest Thursday, December 8, 2005, at the Doctors Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2005, at the Dearing Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Timmerman and Gerald McNutt officiating. Interment was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson.
Mr. Newby, a native of McDuffie County, had retired from Eastern Airlines and Wilson Homes. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 11 of Warrenton. He taught the Men's Sunday School Class for 50 years. Mr. Newby was very active for over 30 years with the Gideon's Thomson Camp.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Hardy Newby; one son, Ray Newby, Dearing; one daughter, Jo Helen Harvey of Herndon, Va.; two brothers, W.O. Newby, Gray, Ga., and Clarence Ray Newby, Augusta; three sisters, Lois McGahee, Harlem, Sarah Callaway, Atlanta and Clara Sharpton, Evans; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gideons. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Men's Sunday School Class.
Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
