Beginning in his freshman year, Zach's music career has launched into what started out as something he liked to do, to something that is sending him to college.

As a freshman, Zach participated in the Georgia Musical Educators Association District Honors Chorus; he placed fourth with the Men's Quartet at the Literary Competition and was a member of Jazz Band as a guitarist. Zach played the role of "Rolf" in the THS musical The Sound of Music and played the role of the messenger in the THS Drama one-act play production of Antigone. He wrapped up the year by participating in the 2001-2002 Georgia All-State Chorus.

While in his sophomore year, Zach was a member of the Thomson Singers, placed fourth in at the Literary Competition for Men's Solo, and placed fourth with Men's Quartet. Zach also scored perfect on his audition for the 2002-2003 Georgia All-State Chorus. Not only did he perform the role of "The Baker" in the THS musical production Into the Woods, but he received the award for "Most Active" in the THS Chorus Department. Zach also played a huge role in the one-act production of The Rehearsal as "Romeo." This production won the Regional one-act competition and Zach was chosen for the All-Star Cast. Zach also participated in the chorus tour where they toured Nashville and Charleston. He added to his busy schedule and joined the debate team where he excelled as well.

As a junior, Zach was elected the Vice-President of the chorus and again participated in literary competition for Men's Solo. He played the role of "Billy Crocker" in the musical Anything Goes and was again a member of the All-State Chorus for 2003-2004. The Georgia Music Educators Association selected Zach for their District Honors Chorus for 2003-2004. He was "The Nazi Soldier" in the one-act production Strength of our Spirit where again they won the Regional One-Act competition and Zach was selected for the All-Star Cast. Zach was active in French Club and played a role in the production of Final Dress Rehearsal.

Now, in his final year of high school, Zach says all the hard work and determination has paid off.

"It's great to look back on my four years of high school and see the progress and impacts I've made," Zach said. "Music really has been a cornerstone of not only my high school career but my life as well."

He is now the President of chorus and is participating in the Georgia Music Educators Association District Honors Chorus. He will be playing the role of "Harold Hill" in the musical The Music Man. Zach is also in the final audition for All-State Chorus and has been invited to participate in an international choral tour with "Singers of America." Georgia Southern University has invited Zach to participate in a choral festival called "Sing with Southern" and is a prospect for a scholarship at Georgia Southern University. Zach has also been offered a four year scholarship in Vocal Music Education at Augusta State University. He has also been a key member to the Debate team placing third in team competition and placing fifth overall for best speaker.

All in all, Zach has been very active musically during his years at THS.

"I can't wait to begin a whole new career in college," he said.
