Mrs. Ann Burch Aiken

FLORENCE, S.C. - Mrs. Ann Burch Aiken, 82, died Sunday, December 9, 2007, after an illness.

Born on November 27, 1925, in Florence, S.C., Mrs. Aiken was the daughter of the late McLaurin Edward and Ruth Tomlinson Burch. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Davis Aiken, and brother, Robert McLaurin Burch.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Samuel Bacote Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Florentine Dance Club (Charter Member), The Town Club (Charter Member), Pine Haven Garden Club, The Research Club, The Literary Club, The Authorian, and a past president of the Junior League of Florence.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and is survived by three daughters, Elaine Aiken Hackett (Stanley) of Atlanta, GA, Laurie Aiken Tiller (Randolph) and Elizabeth Aiken Rabun (John), both of Florence; a son, John Davis Aiken, Jr., (Johanna Corbin) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, John Davis Aiken III (Sally Giese), Grey Corbin Aiken (Jennifer Pursley), Katherine Aiken White (Mark), Elizabeth Ann Hackett Kimball (Matt), Rebecca Aiken Hackett, Randolph Morgan Tiller (Diana Hofer), John Carrigan Tiller (Aimee Tripp), Lee McLaurin Tiller Bullwinkel (George), Kelly Ritter, John Davis Ritter, John Thomas Rabun, and Taylor Rabun Johnson (Scott); great-grandchildren, John Davis Aiken IV, Elizabeth Ann Aiken, Henry McLaurin White, Lucas Aiken White, amd Mary Lawrence Tiller; sisters-in-law, Doris Calhoun Burch and Eugenia Turrentine Aiken; and a special and devoted friend, Bernetha Robinson.

A service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in the Chapel at the Methodist Manor, 2100 Twin Church Road, Florence, SC, with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Tamassee DAR School, P. O. Box 8, Tamassee, SC 29686; or to the charity of one's choice.

Waters-Powell Funeral Home of Florence is serving the family of Mrs. Aiken.
