Mr. Russell P. Howard
Retired Land Surveyor

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Russell P. Howard, 73, of Thomson, entered into rest December 15, 2007, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2007, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews.

Mr. Howard was born in Lincoln County, but lived most of his life in Thomson. He was the son of the late Arthur Benjamin Howard and the late Ruth Robertson Howard. Mr. Howard had been employed by National Homes, worked on the construction of Plant Vogtle and retired as a Certified Land Surveyor. He was also a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife for 53 years, Mary Knox Howard, Thomson; daughters; Jan Bohler (Jimmy), Thomson, Ann Cloud, Appling; brother: Clifford Howard, Crawford, Ga.; grandchildren: Jennifer Wilkerson Padgett (Timmy), Michael Wilkerson (Dawn), Bryan Bohler, Russell Bohler (Ruby); great-grandchildren: Hailey Padgett, Samantha Fillmore, Travis Padgett, Shelby Bohler and James Russell Bohler; one great-great-grandchild: Emmalee Powell.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Natalie Bohler.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
